This exceptional Art Nouveau pendant was made by Henri Dubret in the Egyptian style around 1900. At the centre of the eighteen- carat gold pendant is a chased, stylized image that most closely resembles Osiris, a divinity in Egyptian mythology. His face is flanked by papyrus leaves with elongated black stems in iridescent turquoise enamel. Along the bottom edge of the pendant are four butterflies, likewise enamelled in iridescent turquoise and blue, set off beautifully by the polished azurite malachite that hangs beneath. The pendant is suspended from its original finely worked gold link chain.
