In 1945 Frans Beekhuizen - Jan Beekhuizen's father - founded the family business. Jan Beekhuizen is a broker and sworn appraiser in the field of antique tin, specialising in tin from European countries from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. Since 1995 he has also been part of the team of experts in the AVRO programme 'Tussen Kunst & Kitsch' (Between Art & Kitsch). He is also the author of the following books: Tin from European countries (Amsterdam 1979), The beauty of the old Tin ('s-Hertogenbosch 1998), Nineteenth and twentieth century bouillon pots, a collection (Amsterdam 2006) and Dordts and Weerter tin, two private collections (Amsterdam 2013). He was also one of the founders of the Nederlandse Tin Vereniging (Dutch Tin Association) in 1993 and has been chairman of this association ever since.
