Art Gallery Pygmalion was founded in 1997 by art historian Jaap Versteegh and his wife Joke van Veen, MSc.

Because of his great love for art Jaap Versteegh started collecting at an early age. The art trade was a logical follow-up.
In addition to his work as an art dealer Versteegh worked as lecturer History of Art ( a.o. Leiden University) and works as a guest curator for various museums.

The art gallery is located in Maarssen-village, in the middle of the Netherlands and easily accessible. In the monumental building, located on the river Vecht between Amsterdam and Utrecht, the collection is presented in a museum manner.

The collection consists of paintings, drawings and prints from the period 1850-1950.

In addition, the collection includes dozens of sculptures, large and small, of Dutch sculptors from the 20th century, as well as manuscripts, photographs, special books and rare magazines.

All works are characterized by a combination of aesthetics and art-historical quality.

In addition to buying and selling, you can go to Pygmalion for advice, mediation and appraisals.
